PAYMENT POLICY
Your registration will cover attendance at the event at the location noted for that event. Please be sure to check in at the registration desk at the event. Check/Cash registrations must pay at the event. Workshop programs require check/cash registration payments prior to the event. Checks can be mailed to SMPS Nebraska, PO Box 390093, Omaha, NE 68139-0093. When mailing check please include registration confirmation.
Please note the refund policy below. No-shows will receive an invoice after the event. All invoices for no-shows or non-payment at the time of the event will include a $10 invoicing fee and will be due upon receipt.
REFUND POLICY
All sales are final. No refunds unless requested 3 business days prior to an event in writing or by email. Refunds for workshops require notice 5 business days prior to the event in writing or by email. There is a 15% cancellation fee for all refunds. Credits may be issued to be used for future event registrations in lieu of refund.

Project Spotlight: Tri-Faith Initiative

The Tri-Faith Initiative is made up of three Abrahamic faith groups who have chosen to be in relationship together as neighbors on one campus, committed to practicing respect, acceptance and trust. The three members are of the Jewish, Christian, and Islamic faiths: Temple Israel, Countryside Community Church (UCC), and The American Muslim Institute (formerly the American Institute of Islamic Studies and Culture). We will have speakers from each to discuss the history and vision of the project.
Presenters:
- Bob Freeman, past Tri-Faith Iniative Board Chairman and Temple Israel member
- Rev. Dr. Eric Elnes, minister at Countryside Community Church
- Karim Khayati, Tri-Faith Iniative Board member and co-founder of The American Muslim Institute.
Bob Freeman is a Senior partner at Fraser Stryker PC, LLO and is a founding member of the Tri-Faith Initiative, and served as chairman of the Tri-Faith Board of Directors from 2006 - 2015. He is a past Board President of Temple Israel and remains an active member of the congregation. Mr. Freeman has served in leadership roles and as counsel to numerous Community Boards, including the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, the Metropolitan Entertainment & Convention Authority (MECA), the Omaha Sports Commission, and the Crane Trust. He is also an adjunct law professor at Creighton University Law School.
Rev. Dr. Eric Elnes is a biblical scholar, with a Ph.D. in Biblical studies from Princeton Theological Seminary, and the Senior Minister of Countryside Community Church (UCC), Omaha, NE. He also hosts Darkwood Brew, an interactive internet television program exploring the emerging and converging edges of Christian faith (www.darkwoodbrew.org). Elnes is the author of several books, including Gifts of the Dark Wood: Seven Blessings for Soulful Skeptics (and Other Wanderers), and The Phoenix Affirmations: A New Vision for the Future of Christianity. He and his wife, Melanie, have two daughters, a young dog, and an old cat.
Karim Khayati is a co-founder of AMI and currently serves as vice president. He is also a board member of the Tri-Faith Initiative of Omaha. Both positions reflect his passion to continue to make Omaha a thriving, diverse community. Khayati is a native of Tunisia. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the Institut des Hautes Etudes Commerciales Carthage-Tunisia and moved to the United States in 1998, where he received his MBA from Creighton University. Khayati has made his home in the Omaha community ever since, raising his three children here with his wife, Olfa. Khayati is a longstanding information technology professional covering a diverse range of industries including transportation, financial and software development.
