PAYMENT POLICY
Your registration will cover attendance at the event at the location noted for that event. Please be sure to check in at the registration desk at the event. Check/Cash registrations must pay at the event. Workshop programs require check/cash registration payments prior to the event. Checks can be mailed to SMPS Nebraska, PO Box 390093, Omaha, NE 68139-0093. When mailing check please include registration confirmation.
Please note the refund policy below. No-shows will receive an invoice after the event. All invoices for no-shows or non-payment at the time of the event will include a $10 invoicing fee and will be due upon receipt.
REFUND POLICY
All sales are final. No refunds unless requested 3 business days prior to an event in writing or by email. Refunds for workshops require notice 5 business days prior to the event in writing or by email. There is a 15% cancellation fee for all refunds. Credits may be issued to be used for future event registrations in lieu of refund.

Join SMPS for our Client Panel on Higher Education. Meet key players in the facilities management and campus planning departments of several Nebraska college and university systems. Our panel will consist of representatives from the University of Nebraska System, the Nebraska State College System and Metropolitan Community College. Learn how best to communicate with the decision makers and how Business Development professionals can gain insight to future campus plans and expansions. Stan Horrell
Director, Campus Planning and Sustainability
Metropolitan Community Collge, Omaha, NE
Mr. Horrell shares a wealth of practical working experience in his role as primary planning director and construction manager for Metropolitan Community College (MCC). As prior owner of a local company specializing in building renovation, custom cabinet manufacturing, and architectural art glass for over two decades the skills utilized remain invariable: persistent attention to detail in the pursuit of stakeholder goals, rigorous awareness of budget and resources, and sensitive integration of project into site.
Melinda Pearson, FAIA
Manager of Facilities Management and Planning
University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE
Ms. Pearson is a registered professional architect and a manager of Facilities Management and Planning for the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and has extensive experience in many facets of the architectural field. Prior to joining UNMC, Melinda served as the director with the City of Omaha’s Parks, Recreation and Public Property division. She also was the founder and president of Pearson Architects, Inc. for 15 years and has past experience as a lecturer and design studio instructor for the UNL College of Architecture. Melinda currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Ronald McDonald House and has been widely involved in many community organizations during her career. She also participates as a navigator in the Sandhills Open Road Challenge road race.
George Killian, AIA
Assistant Director for Facilities Management and Planning
University of Nebraska-Omaha, Omaha, NE
Mr. Killian is the Assistant Director for Facilities Management and Planning at UNO. He is responsible for all new construction and remodeling on campus. He began his career at UNO in June 2005, and is currently managing over $40 million in construction. George attended Southeast Community College at Milford, NE and received his professional architectural license in September 1995. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects. George volunteers on a regular basis and is currently on the advisory board at Maple Crest Care Center. He is married with two sons and two stepdaughters.
Ed Hoffman
Vice Chancellor for Facilities, Planning and Information Technology
Nebraska State College System, Lincoln, NE
Mr. Hoffman serves as Vice Chancellor for Facilities, Planning and Information Technology in the Nebraska State College System Office. Before joining the NSCS in 2006, Ed worked for Chadron State College since 1988. During the last nine years at Chadron State, he has been the Vice President for Administration, managing an operating budget of $25 million annually. He was also responsible for the oversight of campus construction and renovation, and supervises human resources, business and computer services, budget and payroll, maintenance, and support personnel. A Chadron State College graduate, Hoffman earned his master of arts in education-vocational education in 1990. He attended Black Hills State University for his undergraduate degree in mass communications.

Partner, Architect
Holland Basham Architects, Omaha, NE
A registered professional architect, Curt is a Partner with Holland Basham Architects and has been with the firm for over 15 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and Master of Architecture from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Curt has a vast array of architectural experience in design, project programming, master planning and project management. His project experience largely includes higher education, and he has been involved with a variety of projects on several university and college campuses including the University of Nebraska-Omaha, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Creighton University.
